Every morning, some afternoons and every evening; we always go out to the chicken coop to check for new eggs. As of today, 9/11/2025, we have collected exactly 24 eggs from our backyard chickens. As of over just a week ago have stopped buying store bought eggs. The whole routine of feeding, checking on the water, cleaning and maintaining the coop, hanging out with and talking to our feathered friends, collecting organic eggs and cooking with our own backyard produced eggs is a truly an amazing experience. Every weekday, as soon as my son gets home from school, we head out together to check on the chickens and collect eggs. For us, it’s not just the delicious eggs, the crazy chickens, or the overall experience that makes all of this so rewarding. Every step of our backyard chicken journey over the last 5 months has been fun and exciting. And planning out and looking forward to what happens next is what helps to keep us motivated.
